REDDING, Calif. - Sara Ann "Sally" Stahl-Chappelear Bentley, born Dec. 5, 1937, in Lewistown, Pa., passed away Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2007.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fredrick and Alma Stahl, and Dr. and Mrs. T.A. Chappelear; daughter, Judith Ann Burt; niece, Carolyn Irby; first husband, Retired Sgt. John C. Chappelear; and second husband, Edward T. Bentley.
She is survived by her son, John M. Chappelear; daughter, Karen M. Chappelear; grandsons, Cameron Riley, Jerry Burt, and Logan and Derek Christianson; five great-grandchildren; sister, Mildred Eckard; nephews, William and Daryl Eckard and families; and stepsons, Clyde and Mark Bentley and their families.
Sally loved to garden and travel. She was a volunteer at the Discovery Shop, Turtle Bay, and the Cascade Theater.
She was an active member and deacon at First Presbyterian Church in Redding. She moved to Redding 30 years ago after living in many different states and countries (West Germany and Panama).
Memorial services will be Thursday, Nov. 1, 2007, at 3 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, Redding.
